Freiberg was first introduced to racing at age 11 when she worked as a timing and scoring official at the local go-kart track. Just a short two years later in 2004, Freiberg decided to try racing and entered her first karting event that December with the World Karting Association (WKA) at Daytona International Speedway.
After she had won her first WKA championship, Freiberg started competing in cars at age 15 with the Skip Barber Racing Series while continuing to race karts and build experience.
